Al Jazeera’s Bureau Chief Wael Al Dahdouh Loses Wife, Son, & Daughter To Israeli Airstrike

On Wednesday, while Al Jazeera’s reporter and bureau in chief Wael Al Dahdouh was on air covering the murders of Gazan people, he received the worst news in his life, the death of his wife, daughter, son, and grandson due to an Israeli airstrike on the allegedly “safe” central district.

After the family was displaced from the northern bank, that Israel demanded its evacuation, they took refuge in Nuseirat camp that was targeted by an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday.

“It is clear that this is a systematic targeting of children and civilians…we had doubts that the Israeli occupation won’t leave these [children] without punishment,” commented Al Dahdouh.

At the Aqsa Martyrs hospital Al Dahdouh was seen in a video standing over the bodies of his family members wrapped in white sheets, completely shattered and distraught.

The martyred members are his wife, his son Mahmoud who was 15 years old, his daughter Sham who was only 7 years old, and a baby grandson.

Journalists in Gaza right now are risking their lives every moment. They are losing friends, family, and exposed to harm each day while trying to spread the reality of what is happening in Palestine to the world. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 24 journalists have been killed since the bombing of Israel in Gaza strip. The CPJ are gathering a list of their names and cause of death on their website.
