Actress May Calamawy To Take Center Stage At Abu Dhabi’s Middle East Film & ComicCon Festival

Egyptian-Palestinian actress May Calamawy is reportedly being set to make an appearance at the Middle East Film & Comic Con Festival (MEFCC) in Abu Dhabi. Running from March 3-5, the festival will bring together a number of movie stars whose works play integral roles in shaping today’s pop culture.

Calamawy made an appearance in one of her biggest roles in the Disney+ series Moon Knight last year, rocking the role of ‘Layla El-Faouly’ who later turned out to be the ‘Scarlet Scarab,’ her superhero name. With this project, the actress became the first Arab character in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series or film, Calamwy will also become the first Arab lady to take center stage at MEFCC this year.

She will be joined by “Stranger Things” actor Jamie Campbell Bower along with an incredible line-up of talented stars including American voice actors Christopher Sabat and Zach Aguilar, US actress Paige O’Hara, British actors Andy Serkis, Matt Smith, and Anthony Daniels according to Arab News.

Calamawy also played ‘Dena Hassan’ in the highly-rated Hulu series ‘Ramy’ where she was able through her character to iterate the struggles of living in a typical Egyptian family setting in the heart of New York. MEFCC is not holding back this year bringing the very best from the comic world.
