A Scoop of Mosalsalat: In Honor of the Legend, We Look Back at All of Adel Emam’s Ramadan Roles

For several years, the legendary Egyptian comedian Adel Emam has been entertaining us with his unforgettable roles in movies, plays, and series. There’s so much to commend when it comes to our favorite Adel Emam, his facial expressions, his acting skills, his roles, as well as his choice of topics to shed light on. To sum it all up, his history in the film industry speaks for itself.

Around seven years ago, we started a new habit of waiting for the promos of Adel Emam’s series, prior to Ramadan, and scheduling it first, along with other series we plan on watching during the holy month. And in honor of this Egyptian icon, we take a look back at all the series he starred in, every Ramadan season, since 2012.

As the first time Adel Emam joins the Ramadan race, this was a powerful start. We all remember the comical events of the retired Egyptian officer from the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv, who recruits his former students to rob Isreal’s largest bank, as a revenge against Israel.

Al ‘Arraf (The Oracle) in 2013

This series was an eventful one, where Adel Emam, who is The Oracle, tries to meet his children who he hasn’t see for several years, while switching between identities, making it difficult for the police to keep chasing him.

Saheb El Sa’ada in 2014

This comedy-drama series took us into the luxurious life of Bahgat Abu El-Kheir, his wife, children, and grandchildren, with their problems and the generational gap between them. This was a family we all wished to be a part of, at some point while the series aired.

Ostaz Wa Ra’ees Qesm in 2015

In 2015, Adel Emam took us back to the January revolution, with a controversial role. The plot revolved around Fawzy, a college professor who criticized Egypt’s political situation before 2011 and joins the revolution. However, he is later offered a position in the new government and the events unfold.

Ma’moun Wa Shorakah in 2016

In 2016, Adel Emam played the role of Ma’moun, who is a stingy man. After his family abandons him because of his stinginess, they discover that he’s a billionaire, and from there onwards, everything changes.

‘Afareet Adly Allam (The Demons of Adly Allam) in 2017

In this series, Adly Allam is living a sad life, spending most of his time in the library, and suffering a failed marriage. He resorts to magic, and seeks the help of a beautiful djinn, who takes over his life.

‘Awalem Khafeya (Hidden Worlds) in 2018

Here, Adel Emam goes back to uncovering corruption, like he did in many of his films. The story revolves around Hilal Kamel, a journalist who discovers new facts about an actress who is supposed to have committed suicide, and strives to uncover the truth about her death. If you didn’t get the chance to watch this series, you still can on Netflix!

Valentino in 2020

After the series was postponed in 2019, the much-awaited Valentino is finally airing this Ramadan. Dubbed as “Valentino”, Nour Abdelmejid is a businessman who owns a number of international schools, and gets on several adventures and comical situations, with his authoritarian wife and nephew. We can’t wait to know how the events will unfold!
