A Saxxs-Periance!

As one of the privileges of being part of an industry that always keeps you in the know with what’s hot I was given the opportunity to get hold of an Amici… What is an Amici? No, I’m not talking about the bar this time (even though props to them too)

An Amici is a type of vespa, launched by Saxxs Bikes, a German bike company that opened its doors to Egypt about six months ago. Moderatly priced and with lots of fun colors to chose from they have become more and more popular in areas such as Zamalek and 6th of October.

Since we go with the trends and god forbid we miss out on this one, we got a bright yellow one! At first I must say I was hesitant, a girl.. On bike in Egypt… But then of course my excitement got the best of me and I took my first ride.  It’s funny how something so small can feel so liberating. I loved it, and to my surprise people weren’t as apolled as I thought they would be instead they were congratulating us on the alternative mean of transportation.

I won’t lie there were still the “Aywa, El’3b” comments being thrown, but after 3 separate rides I must say the general consensus was quite positive. Whether it was being given the thumbs up with a friendly smile by 2 veiled women driving in their car, too the cab drivers telling us this was the real Sawra or the foreigners who rolled down the window stating that it was the first time she had ever seen this in Egypt and thought it was great! 

For someone that doesn’t actually live in Zamalek I find that it is sometime one of the most dreaded places to go too, with such an overly saturated tiny island which seems to have turned in to its own ‘village’ the community is much more accepting then in other areas. Only paying 10 L.E to fill up the tank that can apparently take you around 150 kilometers, one needs to think outside the box.

If a Vespa isn’t your thing, walk or even get a bicycle. We complain that there is too much traffic, that it takes too much time to go anywhere then lets change that, it’s literally in your hands! 

WE SAID THIS: In the hectic world we live in and the even more tiresome traffic we must find alternatives to save both our time and energy, Saxx Bikes as well as others in the market have given us an opportunity.
