A fire broke out on Sunday at The Almas Tower, the second tallest skyscraper in Dubai after Burj Khalifa. The smoke started rising from the top floors and that’s when people started evacuating the building. At press time, no casualties have been reported.
According to witnesses, the fire broke in the office building around 3 PM, Emirate time. “It is a fire in a pole at the top of the tower. We received the emergency call at 2.55 PM and the tower was evacuated from residents,” a Civil Defense Spokesperson said to a local newspaper.
The Dubai Media Office twitted comforting the public:
Dubai Civil Defence has fully brought under control a minor fire that broke out in Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The building was evacuated safely. No injuries have been reported.
