Eid Al-Adha is a blessing to most people. You get day-offs from work, a 3edeya from your parents (if you’re lucky), and most importantly, you get la7ma (meat). Butchers rule this Eid; from people flooding  their shops to get the best pieces of la7ma, to asking them for help at slaughtering cattle and more. We’ve decided to ask a few butchers about the things nobody knows they do, sometimes, during Eid.

“I sometimes charge people more money…”

“One Eid, I switched new meat with old ones. It’s the only time of the year where I can do that because people just buy anything.”

“I make way more money in Eid Al-Adha than I do sometimes in 3-6 months.”

“We judge people by their class and charge them accordingly…”

“I get help from my relatives back in el balad during Eid to help me with the workload.”

“When it comes to helping people butcher their sheep, the more you pay the earlier you are on the list.”

“Honest to God, I don’t do anything special for Eid. I work like I do the entire year. Other butchers abuse this time of year, but I would never do that.”

WE SAID THIS: All butchers chose to remain anonymous in the article for obvious reasons. Also, note that these quotes we translated from Arabic to English.
