Heartbreaking Before-and-After Photos of Palmyra’s Monuments Destroyed by ISIS

ISIS has been on a mission to destroy historical sites representing Syria’s culture and heritage, leaving it in total destruction.

Last year, ISIS decimated the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, ripping its heart out by bombing landmarks that were labelled as UNESCO heritage sites, leaving what was once a famous archaeological destination in rubble.

Photographer Joseph Eid shows just how badly Palmyra has been destroyed by comparing photos taken on March 14, 2014 at each monument. The results, taken two years later on March 31, 2016, are heartbreaking to say the least.
