France and Saudi Arabia are teaming up on a massive new theme park inspired by the iconic Japanese anime Dragon Ball Z. The €6 billion ($7 billion) project was announced following talks between French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Élysée Palace, with Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya Investment Company set to lead the development.
And this isn’t going to be a small-scale anime attraction. The ambitious project is expected to create around 22,000 jobs and will see the construction of three major theme parks near Cergy-Pontoise, around 30 kilometres northwest of Paris.
The first has already been revealed and it’s the one that has fans most excited: a Dragon Ball Z-themed park.
While details about the park are still under wraps, the idea reportedly came from an unexpected shared interest. During Macron’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2025, the French president and the Saudi crown prince discovered that they both had an enthusiasm for Dragon Ball Z, according to Macron’s advisers. Talk about turning a shared childhood obsession into a €6 billion project.
The other two theme parks are yet to be announced, leaving fans with plenty to speculate about.
The project is part of a much wider series of agreements signed during MBS’s visit to Paris, covering everything from energy and defence to artificial intelligence and tourism, as Saudi Arabia continues to expand its international partnerships.
The visit also marked MBS’s third official trip to France and his first international trip since signing the trilateral Mecca Joint Defence Agreement with Türkiye and Pakistan earlier this month.
For now, there’s no word on exactly when the Dragon Ball Z park will open or what attractions will be inside, but if there’s one thing we know, it’s that a Paris trip might soon come with a very unexpected side quest.
