Last weekend, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, virtually attended the UAE’s first virtual mass wedding for 100 Emirati’s, that took place at five venues across the country.

Organized by the Ministry of Community Development, the virtual mass wedding celebrated the marriages of couples from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah. According to the Minister of Community Development, Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, the country has hosted a total of 195 mass ceremonies, with the total number of people marrying under this initiative to be 10,000.

The UAE has strictly been adhering to the necessary precautionary measures, aiming to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Hence, it increased the number of virtual events to keep the country up and running, but is still committed to social distancing.
