Across the Arab world, two names left the greatest mark in the music scene; Fairuz and Oum Kalthoum. For years, these two divas have always been favorites for Arabs of all ages. Many children grew up listening to them, and millions of adults still enjoy the company of their songs in their daily activities or on special occasions.
In 1966, after Oum Kalthoum heard of Fairuz’s presence in Cairo to host a concert, she paid her a visit at the hotel she was residing in and welcomed her. The two icons exchanged hugs and compliments, while each of them expressed their admiration for each other’s music.
Here’s a rare photo of the two music icons in Egypt, in 1966.
