Summer is officially here, and Dubai Summer Surprise (DSS), the Emirati shopping extravaganza, is back for yet another season. The highly-anticipated event commenced on the 21st of June and is scheduled to continue until the 3rd of August.
In case you haven’t heard of Dubai’s annual DSS, it is a yearly spectacle packed with once-in-a-lifetime deals, discounts, as well as promotions from the city’s beloved retailers.
In addition to the exclusive shopping deals, daily surprises, thrilling competitions and shop-and-win promotions, the organizers behind this year’s event have made sure to include a wide range of activities for the whole family, ensuring there is something for everyone.
In fact, in its 22nd edition, the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the organizer behind DSS in partnership with RAKBANK MasterCard, has announced its partnership with a number of retail groups to ensure that Dubai is this summer’s top family destination across the region.

One of the event’s main sponsors, Emirates Airline, in the words of its Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations, Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, stated that Dubai is leading the way to become the region’s getaway for the summer, with its “cutting-edge landmarks” and “endless entertainment options”.
As for RAKBANK, Frederic de Melker, Managing Director of Personal Banking, promised the bank’s MasterCard holders that they will get a chance to win back what they spend every day during the full DSS season.
Other retail giants. such as Dubai Duty Free, Emaar Malls, AW Rostamani Group, Nakheel Malls, Majid Al Futtaim, Al Futtaim Group, and Mercato Mall, have all expressed their excitement for the highly-anticipated event.
