Peeling off Old Paint to Tell Heartbreaking Stories of Palestinian Refugees

Spanish street artist Pejac flew all the way from Barcelona to Jordan to create a series of stunning works in Al-Hussein, a Palestinian refugee camp, in collaboration with the Spanish embassy.

Using carving tools, he etched away paint on stained, chipped walls to create scenes of hope and loss—a child flying a kite, a group of migrants plodding across the land, the history of territory loss in Palestine. Here are some of our favorite pictures:
