Zedified: Renowned Hair Stylist Olaf Van Den Wildenberg on the Summer Shag
Starting this Spring/Summer season with a big bang, L’Oréal Professionnel are introducing their stand out IT Looks to Egypt. Coming in straight from Amsterdam, Holland, we interviewed the renowned Dutch hair stylist Olaf Van Den Wildenberg.
From road shows to styling sessions to owning his own salon, Olaf has worked with L’Oréal Professionnel for almost 25 years. We got the latest tips and tricks on how to be summer ready!
What is the inspiration behind SS 15’s IT Looks?
The “Shag Look” is all about giving our clients the sophisticated look with a wild touch. Instead of the ordinary layered hair cut, we’ve taken inspiration from the late 60s and early 70s, an era where music and fashion intertwined. Think of David Bowie and Flower Power.
The beauty about this trend is the fact that we personalize the “Shag Look” to every client. We interpret everything from the cut and colour to not only make her feel special, but on-trend.
How can we interpret the IT Look to Middle Eastern hair?
Because of the general hair texture and dark pigment, Middle Eastern women should stick to the darker hair tones; it complements and enhances the skin tones as well. It’s a shame to see that most women ruin their hair by dying it blonde.
How has the rise of social media affected the hair styling business?
When I first started styling hair, we were only concerned about the hair itself. Now, it is totally different. Because we are exposed to a lot more fashion, music and influencers, stylists have to be fully aware of all the trends, not just beauty.
The client’s nature is also different. They know exactly what they want and how they want it. We need to interpret their personality into the “Shag Look”.
