Why We Need Sexual Education In Egypt

Capture

One of the biggest problems that Egyptian society suffers from is sexual harassment, which is directly related to how people in Egypt view sex itself.

The problem of sexual harassment is not just with the youth or teenagers, it’s even an issue with kids. If you pass by an elementary or middle school and you listened to the conversations of these children, who are considered the closest things to angels on earth in this early age, you will hear words that will make even the most experienced of us blush.

Human beings have sexual needs, and with our hormones raging in our younger years, neglecting our desires for too long irrationally contributes to wanting to get married in our early 20s in order to satisfy them.

But in a country that has such unstable economical conditions where a guy’s response to his girlfriend singing “Take Me To Church” is “Don’t you know how much a gallon of gas costs?” – not to mention complicated marriage procedures that start with the diamond shabka and includes “ta2m elseeny wel neesh” until we reach a million pound wedding – it’s nearly impossible to get married at such a young age and we end up writing “la2n el7alal agmal sa2ntazer” as our Facebook status.

We live in a traditional country, so although it exists here, the idea of prostitution is totally unacceptable by society, despite the fact that it seems the only things people think about are porn sites like sexmature.xxx and football.

In this globalized Internet age in which we’re living, people are becoming open to other cultures and we are subjected to external factors that can affect our way of thinking. Sexual harassment is a critical issue that needs to be fought with awareness, education and changing our mentalities about sex.

Parents should tell their children how they came to life in the first place. It’s not reasonable for a 14-year-old boy to think that a girl will get pregnant just by being kissed. Or for a 25-year-old male to know practically nothing about sex except that you should eat fish on your wedding night and his knowledge is inspired from a porn movie called Good Will Humping.

Sex is important; it’s not something that we shouldn’t mention or talk about. It’s a natural act that all creatures have a desire for and need to do, it’s the reason why we all exist and it’s not something shameful.

And it’s our responsibility to impart this to younger generations. Talk to your brother, sister, son or daughter and explain to them that, as a normal human being, it’s OK to be curious about sex.

WE SAID THIS: Don’t miss “Porn Sex Vs. Real Sex”.
