Food Review: Eat Greek In JBR

Coming from Montreal where you can find a Greek restaurant in pretty much any area, it’s one of the things that I truly missed when I moved to Dubai.

I’m all about homemade and trying to replicate certain dishes that you fall in love with – like making my own tzatziki. While it comes out pretty close, there are certain dishes I just don’t have the Greek in me to make the way they do. I still have yet to figure out exactly what it is, but when I do, you will be the first to know!

The ambience at Eat Greek is one of hustle and bustle, carrying an authentic feel of a Greek restaurant, but a more modern version. From the wooden tables, benches and chairs, to the bird cage lights hanging from the ceiling, the open concept is welcoming.

The details are what the owners really took into account. With an already beautiful view of the JBR walk, they still took the effort to paint the windowsills. Guess they knew that their visitors would be gazing out at the sunsets and people watching as they ate.

The staff were all extremely attentive, awaiting to cater to your needs, seat you and get you ordering – which might I add, is done in a super friendly way. It was somewhat of a busy night, but I must say they handled the service beautifully.

The waiter knew the menu well, but I also knew exactly what I wanted: the Souvlaki and the Lamb Chops!

I also ordered a Greek Salad, which was the only item I ordered that I was disappointed with. For something so simple to re-create, another dish that can easily be made at home, one would expect fresh tomatoes! They were steak cut, which made them even more noticeably mushy. Kinda killed the salad entirely. And for the price, disheartening.

But the lamp chops were simply delicious! They were cooked to perfection, juicy, succulent and everything else you could want in a lamb chop.

The same goes for the souvlaki. They were perfect and authentic.

With the prices seeming somewhat high, the value for money comes in the portion size and the flavors.

They are also open for lunch, serving a menu that caters to those on the run. Grab a gyro and go. Quick, delicious and filling.

The lamb meatballs are also a popular appetizer that are now almost always sold out! So if you want to try those, be sure to be amongst the first to get there.

They are also known to have delicious cocktails and desserts, so my advice would be to not order as much as I did and indulge in the full experience. Eat Greek is definitely worth a re-visit in my books!

If you like what you have there, you might also enjoy their other restaurants as well: The Meat Co., Bentley Bistro and Bar, Tribes and Ribs and Rumps.
