What’s Up with Egypt’s New-Found Obsession with Xmas?
Is it just us, or does everyone and their mother have a Christmas lunch or dinner or brunch or bazaar or yoga session or whathaveyou all of a sudden?
The Xmas spirit is intenssse this year. It’s like Egyptians just discovered the holiday of consumerism and, oh yea, the birth of Jesus Christ.
We’re not hating on the trend – because, yes, it is a trend – we’re just amused at all the close-up shots of Christmas tree ornaments and Christmas-themed #ootd posts on our Instagram feeds. Cute.
While we love an excuse to dress up and decorate – and, for some of us, day drink because it’s the holidays – we wonder if this will continue in the coming years.
Maybe it will, but we have a feeling that, like most Egyptian trends, it’ll bloat to unbearable proportions and then we’ll find another holiday on which to fixate. Hanukkah, anyone? …No?
Perhaps we’re just jaded and channeling our inner Grinch, but – actually, no, there is no “but”. It’s cold. There’s traffic. The malls are crowded. And our brains hurt too much from hearing Sam Smith’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” cover to think of unique presents.
WE SAID THIS: Excuse us, we have to run to a Secret Santa gift exchange.
