Syrian Couple Takes Haunting Wedding Photos in Homs

In a country where love is lost and nothing remains but death and ruin, humanity is brought back to the most destructed Syrian city, Homs, once again. Newlywed Syrian couple Nada Mehri, 18, and Hassan Youssef, 27, took the most haunting wedding photos in their homeland and the results were heart shattering.

Agence France-Presse photographer, Joseph Eid, accompanied the couple and their wedding photographer, Jafar Meray, and took stunning photographs during the making of the wedding photoshoot. Meray explained that he wanted to show that life is stronger than death and these wedding photos are proof that life goes on silently. The groom wears his military uniform of the Syrian army, which played a major role in the destruction of Homs.

Meray previously photographed another wedding in Homs where the ceremony was held in what remains of the Greek Orthodox Church, St. George, which lost its roof in the civil war.
