Saudi Teen Arrested For ‘Enticing’ Video Chats with American Vlogger

Saudi Arabian authorities arrested a teenage boy for “unethical behavior” Sunday, The Independent reported yesterday. The boy, who goes by the nickname Abu Sin on video chat site YouNow, had been chatting on the site with American vlogger Christina Crockett.

Videos of their chats were later posted on YouTube, receiving nearly a million views (we told you about it here). Police reportedly called the videos “enticing” and said they invited “negative attention.”

Now get this: Sunday’s arrest was actually broadcast live on the internet, because Abu Sin was talking to another YouNow user in Kuwait when police pulled over the car he was in.

“His videos received many comments and many of the commenters of the general public demanded for him to be punished for his actions,” Riyadh police spokesman Colonel Fawaz Al-Mayman said, according to the Saudi Gazette.

“The two of them composed enticing videos which received thousands of followers and viewers from all over the world within a short period of time.

“Most of the viewers were from the Arab world. Abu Sin, nicknamed for his projecting tooth, became famous and received negative attention,” he added.

WE SAID THIS: According to the Independent, quoting Okaz, Abu Sin could face up to three years in prison.
