After Sami Anan officially announced on January 20 on his official Facebook account that he was intending to run in Egypt’s presidential elections, he reportedly have been accused of forgery and he is now under arrest, according to his Election Campaign Lawyer, Mahmoud Refaat’s twitter account.

In the meantime, according to Sami Anan’s official Facebook page, the campaign goings-on will be put on hold succeeding the release of the army’s statement. The campaign’s statement read “The campaign of candidacy #Sami_Annan announces with great sorrow the suspension of the campaign until further notice, for the sake of keeping the security and safety of all citizens who are in need of change.”

The former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Sami Anan, has not met the customary criteria of the army to run for the 2018 presidential elections as this was released in a televised statement. Anan’s inability to meet the necessary permissions of the army’s criteria is considered a violation of army rules, which requires the accused to be put under the Armed Forces’ investigation.

WE SAID THIS: Good luck, Egypt in your presidential elections!
