Q&A: Mohsen Hafez, the Man Behind Some of Cairo’s Biggest Events

 

This week, hugely popular kids’ show Dora the Explorer is coming to life as a musical at The Marquee in Cairo Festival City thanks to GT Events.

We caught up with Mohsen Hafez, Managing Director and Partner of the leading events company, to give us more insight about the business of entertaining.

Why did you decide to bring Dora to Egypt?

 

Basically, there are two main reasons behind my decision apart from business reasons, since I’ve been working in the kids entertainment field for the past five years:

1. Proving to the international entertainment field that Egypt is safe and Egyptians have the capacity and know-how to handle and operate such shows at global standards.

2. My daughter’s obsession with Dora! And the fact that Dora’s character is loved by millions of kids all over the world, combining education and fun at the same time.

 

 

 

What’s the biggest challenge about working in the events industry?

 

Operating under extreme stress! And making sure you’re attracting the right audience to the right show.

 

 

 

What have you learned in your entrepreneurship journey?

 

Hard work and persistence pays off.

 

 

 

What kind of events do you think Egypt is missing? And what kind of events do you think Egypt has too much of?

 

Egypt is missing big-scale staged international shows and definitely live shows by international artists. Unfortunately, there are too many poorly organized events.

 

 

 

What upcoming events can we look forward to from GT?
