Teenagers and Technology: Then vs Now
Most, if not all, teenagers today can’t seem to imagine life without modern technology. Modern technology has revamped the way of life for everyone. Teenagers use it to communicate with one another, play games, or simply just live. Decades ago, no teenager was obsessed in updating their Facebook status or Snapchatting themselves watching The Walking Dead. Here’s what they did:
Then: Mom had to scream your name to tell you dinner is ready
Now: Mom texts you on WhatsApp that dinner is ready
Then: You went outside of the house to play football
Now: You play Candy Crush from the comfort of their own home
Then: You wrote letters to your crush to show him how much you liked him
Now: You send heart emojis to your crush to show him how much you like him
Then: You had to meet at the movies at a specific time and actually be punctual so you don’t miss anything
Now: You and your friends stream a movie from your phone
Then: You actually just ate your food and that was enough
Now: You have to Instagram a picture of your food
Then: Your parents would be worried sick about you if you’re late to coming home and can’t do anything about it
Now: Your parents will bombard you with phone calls and text messages until you answer
Then: Eating with friends was all about just eating and talking to each other
Now: Eating with friends is now all about ignoring each other and being distracted by your Instagram notifications and likes
Then: Stalking meant go to the same places your crush went to
Now: Stalk all their social media platforms until you find yourself stalking their grandma, third cousins and pet
