Nadine Labaki is Making History With Capernaum Movie Entering the 2018 Oscars!

The alluring Lebanese Actor, Writer, and Director Nadine Labaki is literally on a streak of successes and is becoming a real inspiration. She is not only recognized as an actor who earned plenty of awards but also she has just entered history as a Director. Labaki’s third feature film Capernaum has been selected as Lebanon’s submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards 2019.

Capernaum, which follows the Director’s debut, Caramel, is a politically and heartwarming drama movie about a 12-year old boy in Beirut, who takes his parents to court for giving him life in a world of pain and suffering. Labaki’s brilliant work has earned the Jury Prize, making her the first Arab film Director, and the Second woman to ever claim the Jury Prize.

This is the second time Lebanon receives recognition from the Academy Awards. Zaid Doueri’s movie, the Insult made it to the shortlist in the 2018 Academy awards in the Best Foreign Language Film Category.
