Meet Jessica Hosam Eldein: ‘The Goat’ & ‘Kamel El Adad”s Break Out Star

This past April during the Ramadan TV shows marathon, there was a fair share of characters to be hated; the list includes teenage Egyptian actress, Jessica Hosam Eldein who portrayed the character Amina in the family comedy, ‘Kamel El Adad.’ But you know as they say, the more you hate them, the more they’re actually good at what they do.

Only thirteen years old, we caught up with the teenager to discuss everything from how she landed the role to what’s next and of course, ‘The Goat’ film currently screening at the El Gouna Film Festival where we chatted.

Surprisingly, the starlet teased that she had done ‘The Goat’ before ‘Kamel El Addad’ when she was maybe 10 or 11 years old.

Hosam Eldein delved into how the role of Hadya, a girl who takes care of the water spring in her village and tries to protect it from the people who are coming to steal it allowed her to try new dynamics of acting. “I did things I would have never imagined I could do.” That wasn’t the only thing that intrigued her about the film, however, as the message of the film reaches beyond Egypt. Delving into vital discussions: “The film discusses the marriage of minors and so much more.”

Coming down to the lighter side of our conversation, the rising star emphasized how Amina in ‘Kamel El Adad’ brought out a whole other side to her. As she’s currently working on ‘Kamel El Adad 2’ she said that she hopes, “The audience doesn’t hate Amina more along with how the behind-the-scenes moments have been incredible.”

We ended our lively chat with Hosam Eldein sharing that this year her wish was to see ‘The Goat’ on the big screen and that finally happened.
