Marwan Moussa Nabs Three Awards At All Africa Music Awards

During the highly anticipated 8th edition of the prestigious All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Egyptian rapper Marwan Moussa known for his huge hits including “Forsa”, “Aloomik” and “Tesla” was on cloud-nine for earning not one but three awards during the ceremony. The three awards celebrated his influence across the region and included Best African Rapper, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Best Artist in African Hip Hop.

From the moment the star laid eyes on Eminem’s powerful film ‘8 Mile’ back in 2004, Moussa knew that rapping was in his blood. He immediately embarked on a journey into the rap world which grew when he left Rome and returned to his homeland of Egypt where he started rapping in Arabic. Moussa is among many rappers across the region including the infamous Wegz who have been changing the identity and flavor of music. Receiving an award at such a prestigious ceremony as the AFRIMA cements rap as a newfound genre that is dominating this decade’s music scene.

Beyond Moussa’s big win, the entire ceremony was quite special and included a stellar lineup made up of big names like global superstar Akon. The festivities came to a close just yesterday, marking the end of an exciting celebration of music across the African region.
