Lebanese multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane joins Swedish composer Sven Wunder on COLORS to perform “Helia,” a standout from Megarbane’s latest album Hawalat.
Released in April 2025 via Habibi Funk, the 19-track record is available for streaming and on vinyl. ‘Hawalat’ takes its title from the Arabic concept of hawala, an informal money transfer used in regions facing economic instability or currency shortages. For Megarbane, however, the term isn’t a financial reference but rather a metaphor for creative exchange between places, people, and generations.
The album marks the first time Megarbane has opened up his creative process to other musicians, with “Helia” serving as a prime example featuring strings performed by the Stockholm Studio Orchestra and co-composed, mixed, and produced with Sven Wunder.
