History of Egyptian Fashion Photography Through the Covers of Al Kawakeb
Anyone who knows me will know that I’m obsessed with fashion. My grandma is no different. I was having a lovely cup of tea with her last weekend when she told me, “I was going through my old stuff and found just the right thing for you.”
Little did I know that it was an issue of Al Kawakeb magazine that dated back to 1952. I looked at the cover and was just mesmerized. It was out of this world. I was stunned by how beautiful it was, but also, I was very sad that an Egyptian magazine from 1932 could come out with covers that are better than most Egyptian or Arab magazines right now. What happened to fashion photography? How? Here am I thinking Egypt has gotten so much better at fashion photography when, in fact, I don’t think it did one bit. Old is gold fe3lan (indeed).
