Gamal And Alaa Mubarak Arrested For Alleged Stock Manipulation

Gamal and Alaa Mubarak found themselves in trouble once again after Egypt’s court ordered their arrest for alleged stock manipulation. The sons of Egypt’s Former President, Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, alongside three others, are accused of failing to notify the stock market of agreements to acquire majorities in several banks through front companies.

After attending a hearing at the Cairo Criminal Court on Saturday, their arrest has been ordered with another hearing set for October 20. Following the court ruling, Alaa Mubarak took to Twitter to praise God and confirm that the truth will be unveiled and thanked his supporters.

The case began in 2012 after they’ve been accused of breaking financial trading rules in a deal involving shares of Egypt’s Al Watany Bank. They have denied all the charges against them.
