From Spatula Mics to Street Pranks: Meet the Funniest Arab TikTokers Living In The West
If you crave a laugh, not just occasionally but daily, one of the best ways to do so is by following anyone who’s got major comedic chops on TikTok.
With that, we want to introduce to you some of our favorite Arab TikTokers who will have you laughing all day:
@fdon’tcare
You will hear her thundering voice from miles away: it is loud, it is hilarious, and it is literally in your face.
With her trusty spatula in hand (she uses it as a mic), Egyptian content creator Farah Shams visits malls, shops, restaurants, you name it, across the UK. There, she shouts out whatever is on her mind, completely unfiltered.
One of her most iconic videos is when she hits up the Apple Store and starts yelling that she can’t believe that she has to pay “100 pounds for a charger.”
She literally yells it out in the middle of the store. In another video, she jumps on a chair with a steak on her fork and starts yelling out, “Who made this amazing steak?” It is yet again a completely uninhibited pure Shams moment.
She is the kind of influencer who teaches people to be confident, be loud, and speak their minds. She even brought that energy to her hometown of Alexandria. Check out her videos to see her in action.
@omarfruitflan
Bringing something different to the UK crowd is Omar, an Egyptian content creator who goes by Omar Fruit Flan. You will always find him on the streets of UK with his trusty mic trying and many times failing to guess the nationality of people on the street.
Sometimes, he gets it right on the first guess, but most of the time, he doesn’t even come close, even if he keeps insisting he is very good at guessing.
Beyond that, he also puts everyone on the heated seat by quizzing random strangers on Arab culture and knowledge, whether it is Ramadan or to name their favorite Arab country.
You will be surprised at some of the responses he’d get, like how when he asked people to name their favorite Arab country, one said “Omar” instead of Oman.
One of his funniest videos involved getting a bunch of women from different Arab countries to ululate in the middle of the street to see people’s reactions. It was hilarious. In a lot of ways, his videos celebrate different cultures and promote the Arab world while also making us laugh.
@keemokazi
Being part of a big Arab family makes way for hilarious daily moments. That is exactly what it is like inside Kareem Hesri, a Syrian American living with his mom, dad, and five sisters in America. His videos are all about the daily shenanigans that happen in his house.
Seeing how they barely speak any Arabic, in many of his videos, Hesri tests their knowledge like how in one of his videos he wanted to see who can count the highest in Arabic. One was counting in super speed, another counted in Spanish while the youngest cheated off her phone.
He also likes to film hilarious videos with his mom, like their annual tradition of rapping out a Ramadan song. His best videos, though, are when he pranks the entire family, like when he filmed them using a filter with a spider crawling on their face, making them all jolt because they thought it was a real spider.
@jaurji
Boasting a diverse and eclectic online comedy brand, Toronto content creator Jesse Jaruji brings us the funny side of Arab life, especially when dealing with Arab parents.
In one of his videos, you’ll watch him give us a funny example of when you want to show your Arab parent a video, and they squint as they struggle to put on their glasses. This is a very common move among Arab parents.
Along with that, in his videos, you will see him introducing hilarious concepts and what-if scenarios, like, for example, “If Arabs went to Hogwarts” or “If Arabs were on the Titanic”. His videos show the pure hilarity of being Arab, which has been making them crowd favorites among many.
@saifshawaf
The Canadian Arab comedian with the shaggy hair and a whopping 8 million subscribers on TikTok has been churning out addictive content for some time now.
Saif Shawaf is known to hit up the streets of Canada, but unlike Omar, his signature move is to hold up white signs instructing people to either make him laugh, cringe, get mad, or blush to win money.
Sometimes, the sign reads, “Make me laugh, take $100,” other times, it reads, “Make me cringe, take $50,” and the list goes on. The videos are hilarious because people always fail miserably at the task, but it doesn’t hurt to try, considering that $100 is on the line.
So, on your next bad day, if you want to cheer up and get past it, watch any of these comedic Arab influencers. We have a feeling your day might just take a turn for the better.
