It’s been a while now that FLEX has been dropping a string of unexpected releases, experimenting with new sounds and unlikely collaborations. This time, he taps into the mahraganat world with one of the most-heard names in the scene, Fares Sokkar, to create ‘Khosh Tgebk’. The track is playful yet carries a hint of threat, landing in that sweet spot between Flex’s drill-driven sharpness, cheeky, clever, and full of wordplay, and Fares Sokar’s lively, mischievous mahraganat energy.
Fares Sokar, who has recently been collaborating with a wide range of artists and bringing them into his mahraganat universe, notably appeared on Palestinian–Algerian sensation Saint Levant’s deluxe edition of ‘Love Letters’. The expanded release adds four new tracks, one of them being the highly anticipated collaboration with Sokkar, ‘Do You Love Me? / سنيورة’.
Meanwhile, FLEX had already stepped into another unexpected and controversial collaboration with Ziad Zaza, an artist with a long and complicated history with Flex’s former label, after a three-year public feud that genuinely felt like a real rap beef. Ziad Zaza and Flex (formerly of Maadi Town Mafia) buried the hatchet on the surprise joint track ‘Sebny Ala Dool’.
