Facebook Home A New Addition to Facebook Family
As always Facebook keeps surprising me taking social networking to a whole new level. The point is it didn’t stop on FB as an idea of taking the social life to the internet then the wall thing then the timeline which I really like. It’s like writing your autobiography. I remember a couple of days ago I was checking my FB timeline and I was astonished by the old posts I made and my lifetime events that I almost forgot. It made me remember my high school graduation my college years. Having an innovative idea is great but working on it and making it getting better and better is the real challenge.
Facebook Home isn’t a phone or operating system; it’s also more than just an application. Home is a completely new experience that makes us see the world through people, not applications.
The first and last thing we do in bed is that we check our phones. Here comes the Cover feed, it replaces the lock screen and home screen. It’s a window into what’s happening with our friends – friends at a great outing, an event you are planning with your club members, your family sharing a meal or an article on your favorite website Scoop Empire. These are the beautiful, overwhelming experiences that you get through Home. You can flip through to see more stories, and double tap to like what you see. You won’t miss any updates anymore!
Cover feed is for those in-between moments like waiting in line at the grocery store, trapped in a traffic jam or between (through as well) classes when you want to see what’s going on in your world. It is great for seeing everything going on in the world. But when something happens that’s more important and directed at you, like a friend posting on your timeline, you’ll receive notifications with their profile pictures.
Getting to your apps in Home is easy as it is on any other phone. Swipe up to see your favorite apps in the launcher. There’s also a screen containing all of your apps, and you can drag your favorite ones to the launcher. It also has chat heads, which will allow you to keep chatting with friends even when you’re using other apps. When a friend sends you a message, a chat head appears with your friend’s face, so you see exactly who you’re chatting with.
What’s really cool about it is that it is totally free and available as a free download from the Google Play Store starting April 12. Home works on the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung GALAXY S III and Samsung GALAXY Note II. Home will also work on the forthcoming HTC One and Samsung GALAXY S4, and on more devices in the coming months. Home will also be available pre-installed on phones through the Facebook Home Program. HTC and AT&T are the first companies working together to deliver a phone with Home. It’s called the HTC First and it goes on sale April 12 as well.
With Home, everything on your phone gets friendlier. I just love Facebook.
