#Esma3ny: Run to Help Kids with Hearing Loss
This Friday, Nov. 6 the Awareness Run Against Hearing Loss is taking place in Zamalek at 7 AM. The #Esma3ny campaign promotes awareness for hearing loss in children and calls attention to the importance of prevention and early detection.
More than 3,000 runners are expected to participate in the first campaign for hearing loss in Egypt, including children and their families who have benefited from cochlear implants.
Hearing loss can be treated with a cochlear implant (a surgically implanted device that can restore the sense of sound), but is difficult and not very successful if done after the age of five.
Every time the hashtag #Esma3ny is used on social media, MED-EL — the leading provider of hearing implant systems worldwide — will donate 1 EGP worth of treatment towards cochlear implants.
So by doing something as simple as using the hashtag #Esma3ny, you can help make a difference in the lives of children who will suffer and face many obstacles if not treated.
