Egypt’s Ministry Of Social Solidarity Launches Platform For The Hearing Impaired

The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity launched an initiative to assist in de-stigmatizing and integrating people with hearing impairments into society.

In order to assist de-stigmatize people with hearing impairments and promote their better integration into society, the Ministry of Social Solidarity started a campaign to expand sign language knowledge throughout Egypt after marking World Sign Language Day.

‘Taeel’, an electronic platform that aids in connecting people with hearing impairments with work possibilities, was created as part of the effort by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The ministry has also started a series of seminars to train staff members at rehabilitation offices throughout several governorates in sign language.
