Egypt’s Minister of Supply Shuts down Soaring Prices Complaint: ‘Mesh 3ayez Kalam We Khalas’
Every single citizen in Egypt is currently suffering from the soaring unrealistic prices. Nothing, and we mean absolutely nothing, is affordable right now, whether it’s clothes, groceries, tuition fees, real estate, furniture, etc. The least the government can offer us right now is a shoulder to cry on, since the light at the end of the tunnel is nowhere in sight.
According to Youm7, things took an unexpected turn aduring the International Day of Customer protection Agency (CPA) celebration. A representative of the general assemblies of the CPA complained to the Minister of Supply, Ali El-Meselhi, about the insane rise in prices, explaining that a kilo of imported meat now costs EGP 80. “I don’t want any talk about it and that’s it”, El-Meselhi replied.
Since there is no video coverage of the incident, we are not quite sure how this could have happened, how a government official can treat people with such dismay. Hopefully, there is a misunderstanding. However, El-Meselhi explained that all commodities are being provided to citizens in consumer complexes.
