Egyptian Lawyer Says It’s a ‘National Duty’ for Men to Rape Girls Who Wear Ripped Jeans
Nabih Al-Wahsh, an Egyptian lawyer, has prompted outrage for saying harassing and raping girls who wear revealing clothing such as ripped jeans is a “national duty”.
“Will you feel happy when you see a girl walking down the street with half of her behind showing?” he said on Al-Assema earlier this month. “I say that when a girl walks like that, it is a patriotic duty to sexually harass her and a national duty to rape her,” he added.
This incident comes after a series of hashtags that stand against sexual harassment have went viral, from #MeToo to #I_Am_Somaya, and much more.
