Dubai: World Expo 2020

Dubai have been striving to become one of the top destinations for business and trade and so it has become just that in the last decade. With increased pressure to always be on top of their game, Dubai has entered the bid to be candidate city host to the World Expo 2020!

What is that you might ask, according to the Bureau International des Expositions, the organization responsible for this world event, the World Expois one of the world’s oldest and largest international events – takes place every five years and lasts for six months. Participants include states, international organizations, civil society groups, corporations, and citizens. The size of the site is unlimited and participants may build their own pavilions. A World Expo is further characterized by the broad scope of the chosen theme, which must be of universal concern to all of humanity. 

The first World Expo took place in London in 1851. The Upcoming one is in 2015 in Milan. 

Dubai will be the the first Arab/Middle Eastern city to bid for the World Expo. It’ll be competing with the following cities from around the world: –

–> Izmir, Turkey

–> Ayutthaya, Thailand

–> Yekaterinburg, Russia

–> São Paulo, Brazil
