Concerts, Sheikhs, and Greetings: Here’s Everything you Should Know About Prince William’s First UAE Tour
All hail the Prince and Sheikh. The Duke of Cambridge is set to visit the UAE on his first official tour. So what happened since he arrived and how is the tour excepted to go?
The Visit
Prince William arrived in Dubai on Feb. 9. The prince tweeted a picture of the mesmerizing Dubai Skyline from his aircraft writing, “Excited to be arriving in Dubai to celebrate the UK at Dubai Expo and discuss the vital issue of working together with the UAE and international partners to achieve a more sustainable world with The Earthshot Prize and United for Wildlife.”
It is important to mention that the Prince opted from flying private and flew commercial instead since the environment is a big part of his visit to UAE, so he is leading by example when it comes to that.
The Places
Prince William is expected to visit several places on Feb. 10. The tour will start at the Jubail Mangrove Park, an ecological sanctuary in Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning. Where he will be meeting Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, to discuss important issues. The next stop on the tour will be Prince William visiting the Jebel Ali Port. Then the Duke will be gracing Expo 2020 to celebrate UK National Day at its pavilion.
The Tour
At the Jubail Mangrove Park, Prince Wiliam’s meeting with Sheikh Khaled will be a fruitful discussion about conservation, the protection of the regional flora and fauna from environmental and human challenges. Since the UAE is known to be the leading country in the region to take measures against environmental threats and Prince William is famously known to be an avid advocate for environmental issues.
On the next stop of the tour, Prince William will still have the environment on top of his list while visiting Jebel Ali Port. There, he will watch as cargo is being unloaded from container ships by crane, scanned, and inspected by customs for suspicious items. Also, he will be discussing UAE’s efforts to fight the illegal wildlife trade.
Final stop is the amazing celebration of grand UK National Day at Expo 2020. Where the Prince will be meeting Sheikh Hamdan and taking a seat to enjoy a performance celebrating the achievements and contributions the UK has made to the world.
He will also watch performances by the Band of the Coldstream Guards before viewing a short film projected across the interior of the magnificent centerpiece of Expo2020, the Al Wasl dome.
The whole UK pavilion was decked down in Great Britain Flags while spectators held miniatures of it down the red carpet ready to welcome Prince William.
