Word on the street is that a new bar is opening up in Maadi. Being the alcoholics that we are, we had to delve more into the matter and find out what exactly is happening and where. After days of intensive investigation, we’ve finally located Cheers, a new English-style bar that will be taking over Maadi by storm (and delicious cocktails) very soon.

Cheers will be gracing Road 7 (above Abu El-Sid) and will be a “simply chilled place,” Ahmed Harfoush told us (yes, jazz meister Harfoush), one of the owners of the new place. Cheers also plans to be one of Maadi’s havens for live music, focusing on “jazz, funk, rock, Motown and alternative,” said Harfoush. “No commercial or house music,” he stresses.

“Cheers is a classic bar with no frills. No hip or funky decoration. No stupid minimum charges. No couples only policy. JUST fun!” he continued.

We can’t give any more information, otherwise Harfoush will do not so nice things to us. All we can say is that the place will be open to the public on Dec. 17! Cheers!
