Cairo Water Week: One Step Closer Towards Solving the Water Crisis in Egypt

Cairo Water Week (CWW) has launched the first day of its 5-day initiative yesterday, the 14th of October, 2018. The event is being held in cooperation with the European Union and the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization.

Under the title “Water Conservation for Sustainable Development”, CWW mainly focuses on shedding light on the current water scarcity dilemma. It also aims for taking effective steps towards implementing water regulations and raising awareness regarding the point at issue.

“Egypt suffers from an annual 21 billion cubic meters gap between water consumption and production,” said Mohamed Abdel Atti, the Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources. “The consumption reached 110 billion cubic meters, while Egypt currently has 60 million cubic meters annually,” he added.
