AlUla Arts Festival To Feature Andy Warhol Exhibition In Its Second Edition

The second AlUla Arts Festival will take place today and will showcase pieces by legendary American contemporary artist Andy Warhol. The festival, which will feature works of this magnitude for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia, is scheduled to run from Feb. 16 to the 28th.

The exhibition titled “FAME”, which was created in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will include the famous installation “Silver Clouds” in addition to well-known photographs of Hollywood celebrities.

To reflect the vibrant works of art and performances, this year’s edition will be titled “Living in Color,” and will be featuring 70-pieces exclusively by the renowned American artist. There will also be several programs that revolves around art, culture, photography, along with an exclusive performance by American hip/hop star Alicia Keys.

Patrick Moore, director of the Andy Warhol Museum, said exclusively to Arab News that “FAME is intended to be an introduction to the aspect of Warhol that I believe is most fascinating to many young people, including Saudi youth.” Moore then emphasized on the fact that FAME presents an opportunity to extend Warhol’s legacy by reaching new audiences across the globe.
