Earlier this month, the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities kicked off its underwater heritage photography competition. From August 1–10, participants had the chance to capture artifacts once buried under the Mediterranean, now on display in Alexandria’s museums.
A Big Turnout
The contest drew 155 photographers from Egypt and six other countries, sending in over 750 shots. Talk about global hype for Egypt’s hidden treasures.
Why It Mattered
Beyond the stunning photos, the competition was all about raising awareness of Egypt’s submerged heritage and showing how history can inspire fresh creative visions.

The jury has spoken—and the Ministry just revealed the winning shots on social media:

Celebrating the Talent
Winners were honored at a special ceremony in Alexandria, walking away with free trips to archaeological sites, museum passes, and serious bragging rights.
