“Aladdin” Star Mena Massoud To Produce The First Farsi Adaptation Of A Stephen King Novel
Variety reports that the Egyptian-Canadian actor & “Aladdin” star Mena Massoud is set to produce a project that involves the first non-English adaptation of a Stephen King book. The short film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Doctor’s Case, dubbed “The Last King,” will be performed entirely in Farsi.
The movie will be set in Iran and will reflect the country’s ongoing turmoil. It will also feature an all-Iranian cast, including Tara Grammy, Maz Jobrani, Sheila Ommi, and Marshall Manesh. With this project, Massoud aims to bridge the gap between Hollywood and the rest of the world.
Massoud created Press Play with producing partner Ali Mashayekhi, who is in charge of content creation in North America, and George Shehata, who is in charge of content development in the MENA region with offices in Dubai and Los Angeles.
