Ahmed El-Fishawy Apologizes for El Gouna Film Festival Incident
The entirety of Egypt and the Middle East was talking about one thing, and one thing only for the past two days: Ahmed El-Fishawy saying “khara” (meaning shit) at El Gouna Film Festival (GFF).
The young actor uttered the word when he was premiering his new movie, Sheikh Jackson, at the festival. The screen was apparently was shaky, and he referred to it as “khara.”
From social media users disapproving, celebrities such as Ghada Abdel Razek and Amr Adib attacking him, to others like Sama El-Masry standing up for him, our feeds were all about El-Fishawy.
The 36-year-old Egyptian, however, took to his Instagram where he posted a video of himself apologizing about the incident. He stresses that it was a Freudian slip, and that he didn’t mean to belittle any of the hardworking people that were at the festival. “I just wanted people to see Sheikh Jackson on a screen that wasn’t blurry,” El-Fishawy added.
