Abu Dhabi’s “Future Proof” Studio: One-Stop Shop For International Film & TV Production

Abu Dhabi’s twofour54 has unveiled its ambitious plans for a new 40-hectare studio facility, twofour54 Studios, set to redefine the filmmaking landscape in the UAE and wider region. The facility will feature state-of-the-art equipment that will allow it to handle large productions, as well as virtual and metaverse projects. The studio will comprise 11 soundstages, six adaptable sets, and a 3,000 square-meter water tank, along with 7,000 square meters of office space and other facilities for film and TV production, post-production, and screenings.

The studio is designed to be “future-proof” and will complement twofour54’s other production facilities across the capital. The studio will be completed in 2025 and is expected to create jobs and contribute to the local economy.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, managing director and chief executive of Adnec Group, twofour54’s parent company, said, “We are proud to drive Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a leading global destination for content creation through twofour54 Studios. It will take film and TV production to the next level, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy following its completion in 2025.”

Mark Whitehead, Chief Executive of twofour54, added that the facility comes as a response to the demand for an “integrated, future-ready production destination” in the region. “We remain steadfast in our mission to foster creativity, nurture talent and provide a world-class platform where visionaries can bring their cinematic dreams to life,” he said.

Twofour54 has played a key role in attracting international blockbusters to Abu Dhabi since its launch in 2008, with Hollywood franchises including ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Dune’, ‘Star Wars’, and ‘Fast and Furious’ all having shot key scenes in the UAE capital, along with Bollywood hits Bharat and Tiger Zinda Hai. The new facility is expected to further bolster Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a global production destination, and bring more jobs and economic growth to the region.
