Robots are no longer just sci-fi sidekicks. Across the Middle East, they’re showing up in factories, fire zones, public spaces — and even weddings.

From an Egyptian industrial arm to a Saudi-speaking humanoid and an Emirati firefighting robot, meet some of the region’s most interesting robots.

Egypt — RaedBots: The Factory Robot

Egypt’s newest robot isn’t here to shake hands. It’s here to work.

Developed by RaedBots, the Industrial Modernization Center and CUBII Industrial Solutions, Egypt’s first industrial robot using local technology is an AI-powered robotic arm built for industrial applications.

It currently has 80% local content, with plans to reach 90% once its main motor is manufactured locally.

In other words, Egypt is putting AI to work on the factory floor.

UAE — Wabel: The Firefighting Robot

Wabel has a very specific job: going where humans shouldn’t have to.

Developed by UAE-based FFBOTS, the firefighting robot is designed to enter dangerous or hard-to-reach areas and take on physically demanding tasks during emergencies.

Its name means “rain” — fitting for a robot whose job is to take on the heat.

Saudi Arabia — Sara: The Arabic-Speaking Humanoid

Meet Sara, a Saudi-made humanoid robot developed by QSS AI & Robotics.

What makes her stand out? She can communicate with people in Arabic, including the local Saudi dialect, bringing a distinctly Saudi touch to humanoid robotics.

QSS has since developed other Saudi-made humanoids, including Mohamad and Saud, as the Kingdom continues expanding its robotics and AI capabilities.

UAE — Bu Sunaidah: The Social Media Star

Then there’s Bu Sunaidah, perhaps the region’s most unexpectedly famous robot.

Usually dressed in a kandura and fluent in Arabic, the humanoid has become a familiar presence at UAE events — and even had a viral Emirati wedding in 2026.

But there’s a twist: despite his very local identity, Bu Sunaidah is actually built on the Chinese-made Unitree G1 platform and has been locally customized by Lootah Robotics.

So yes, even robots can get a little cultural localization.

UAE — Ameca: The Multilingual Museum Host

Meet Ameca, the eerily expressive humanoid robot greeting visitors at Dubai’s Museum of the Future.

Made by UK-based Engineered Arts, Ameca has been at the museum since 2022. After an upgrade in 2025, she can communicate in Arabic, English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish and Russian, making her less of a futuristic display and more of a multilingual museum host.

She uses facial and voice recognition, real-time translation and emotion analysis to respond to visitors with human-like expressions and social cues.

Basically, the Museum of the Future hired a robot — and gave it the job of making the future feel a little less intimidating.

What’s Next?

The region’s robots are already taking on very different roles — building, fighting fires, interacting with people and speaking local dialects.

And as countries across the Middle East invest in AI, automation and robotics, these machines could become a much more familiar part of everyday life.

The future of robotics might be global, but in the Middle East, it’s starting to sound, look and work a little more local.

Malak cannot seem to get enough of Literature - so much so that she has pursued it in both her BA and MA, and the love affair is still going strong. Aside from her love for words, humans generally fascinate her. She spends a lot of her time analyzing the minds of people around her and watching criminal minds. She is still fairly new in adulthood, and until now, nothing has made sense in life but chocolate.
