According to the travel analytics of OAG Aviation, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is now the world’s busiest airport in January 2026 with 5.50 million seats, exceeding January 2025’s airline capacity by 4%. The ranking marks a change in global charts with Dubai International Airport (DXB) topping Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), which held the position for many years due to its extensive network in the US.
A Surge in Passenger Traffic
According to Dubai Airports, the airport closed off 2025 at record levels, handling approximately 8.8 million passengers in December 2025, making it its busiest month. Earlier this January, the airport processed 324,000 passengers, achieving the highest single-day total in its history.
