From ‘El Kebeer Awi’ to ‘Ain Shams’: Mekky’s Surprising Shift to Drama This Ramadan
Since 2010, we have been graced with Ahmed Mekky cracking us up with his multitude of crazy out-of-the-box characters in his long-running Ramadan comedy show, “El Kebeer Awi.”
Now, things are taking a turn as the beloved Egyptian actor is going to step outside his comedy box and enter into the world of drama with a new Ramadan 2025 show called “Ain Shams.”
A Slice Of Shaabi
For the first time ever, Mekky will take on a shaabi role, likely showcasing a grittier and more serious side as he navigates life in the streets of Cairo.

Taking the lead on this film will be Ahmed Salah, the prominent Egyptian director known for bringing to life films like the action-fueled “Harb Italia” and drug trading drama “The Dealer.” We have a feeling he will infuse a bit of action in the show; maybe some drugs will be added to the mix —we’ll just have to wait and see.
