Future Dubai Students Will Have No Exams
Remember when we were kids and teachers asked us to describe what the year 2020 would look like? We would all imagine flying cars, solar panels and human-sized robots. No one expected schools without exams.
Well, it seems that Dubai plans on canceling exams for school students, so they can focus on real-life matters. According to Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, director-general of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the future of Dubai’s schooling system is getting a major revamp.
“In the future, classrooms will be replaced by open, collaborative spaces that bring students of different ages and abilities together. This will encourage students to work together on solving real-world problems from a very young age, allowing schools to completely move away from tests and exams,” said Al Karam during a session at Gitex Technology Week.
Another interesting addition will be teachers powered by artificial intelligence which will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, what does this mean for teachers? Will they become unemployed soon? Definitely not!
“AI will do all the administrative work that teachers have to do today. AI will work 24/7 and set lessons for students according to their pace and ability. It will have a human interface and read students’ expressions to see whether they have understood a concept,” Al Karam explained.
