Adel Imam Breaks Silence on Cancelling 2019 Ramadan Series

This year’s Ramadan TV season has been anything but fulfilling. For decades, Adel Imam, Youssra, and Yehia El-Fakharany have always blessed our screens during the holy month. This year, so many of these same faces were missing. Every mosalsal felt redundant and most of the scripts were poorly written.

Yet, the mystery that no one solved this year was Adel Imam’s absence. The king of comedy’s mosalsal Valentino was already in the middle of production and fans were surprised to hear that it was postponed till after Ramadan. Many speculated that competing production companies were behind the decision to halt shooting.

Adel Imam finally broke the silence on the decision to cancel his Ramadan show. “Rumors. It does not make sense that my show will face production and marketing issues after signing a contract. The rumors are illogical. My work does not face such obstacles”, Imam told Independent Arabia.

The real reason was shortage of time. The cast started shooting in January, which didn’t leave enough time for the series to be ready to broadcast by the beginning of Ramadan. The cast agreed the tight scheduling could potentially affect the quality of their work and so decided to postpone premiering the show to a later date.

Directed by Ramy Adel Imam and written by Ayman Bahgat Amar, Valentino is one of the first shows to be scheduled for Ramadan 2020.
