Misr El Kheir Launches a Project That Will Drastically Change the Egyptian Labor Market

Misr El Kheir (MEK) just celebrated the launching of its most important project this year, The Egyptian Chinese College for Applied Technology (ECCAT), on the 21st of June, 2018. MEK joined forces with the Beijing Information Technology College (BITC) and the Suez Canal University to build ECCAT which is located in Ismailiya. This was simply an attempt to regain our skilled workforce’s reputation in the global market.

MEK was successfully able to finish the first phase of the project thanks to Al Sheikh Abdallah Al Nouri Charity Organization’s funds. The project is considered a very crucial step in Egypt’s new strategy which focuses on technical education and qualifying Egyptian youth for real work experiences in the market. This will help to fill the gap between both the supply and demand for skilled labor, hence, reducing the unemployment rate in the country. Having BITC on board is definitely a plus since the Chinese economic case studies were proven to be very successful. BITC will provide training for the staff, improve the curriculum, and evaluate the entire program as a whole.

ECCAT will not be aiming for profit; will be against trivial fees yet Misr Elkheir will be providing scholarships to students with honors and underprivileged. Also, there will be scholarship opportunities in China during the summer. Students will have to pass several tests and interviews under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education. Enrolling is also not limited to students in the Suez Canal region; anyone from other cities or even the entire Arab world is allowed to enroll.

The first class can apply for the upcoming fall semester 2018/2019. Hence, submissions will be available in July after announcing the Thanaweya A’ama results. Mechatronics, Communication and Information Technology are so far the available majors. After two years students will receive a technical diploma. Further two years of study will enable students to receive a Bachelor degree.

WE SAID THIS: This is definitely a big step towards economic development!
