7 Life Lessons You Learn from School

School teaches you many lessons. Some in class, others out of class. Oftentimes, the lessons you learn outside of class are much more valuable. Here are a few we’ve compiled over the years:

1. Some people will love you. Some people will hate you. In both cases it probably has nothing to do with you.

1 (3)

It might be that you remind them of that one girl in school who used to tease them or you look just like their best friend from a couple years ago. In either case, it has nothing to do with you and you have to learn to deal with that quickly.

2. Hard work pays off

2 (6)

It might seem obvious, but it’s absolutely true and you’d be surprised how many people ignore it. So many people try to cut corners and they fail and then wonder why. The only way you’re going to succeed is by working your butt off.

3. You can’t always get what you want

3

No matter how hard you try, you’re never going to get everything you want. You’re never going to be good at everything and you’re never going to be friends with everyone. Dealing with rejection is part of life.

4. Don’t worry too much about what others think

4 (5)

It’s so easy to get caught up in what others think of you, especially in school since everyone around you is trying to fit in and you probably are, too. Life gets much better when you learn to just disregard others’ opinions of you. Who cares if she might think you look stupid or if he’ll tell his friends about you? If it makes you happy and you’re not harming anyone, go for it.

5. Just do it

5 (4)

It’s so easy to procrastinate and it can be tempting, but putting things off complicates things like crazy and at the end of the day, you’re going to have to do it anyway, so you might as well get it done right off the bat and give yourself some peace of mind. Not only will your grades suffer if you leave things until the last minute, but you will, too.

6. Drama is inevitable, so learn to take the high road

6 (1)

When you’re stuck with the same people for seven hours a day, five days a week, drama is inevitable. Take the high road. Always.

7. When it comes to friends, it’s about quality, not quantity

Friends

Don’t worry about being best friends with everyone, worry about finding that friend who will be there for you when you need someone to talk to at 3 AM. That’s the one who will always be there.
